Think or Thwim

Linda Childers, Pen for Hire

Welcome to Think or Thwim. This is where freelance writing collides with research and creativity. No one has ever had to tell me to think outside the box. Boxes don't even exist in my world.

I've been writing one thing or another since I learned how to hold a pencil. Couple that with curiosity and imagination and you've got the ingredients for some really interesting written creations. Well, that and a degree in English with a specialization in Creative Writing.

Whether I've penned a research piece or am sharing a story, my readers are never bored.  Even my history pieces are impossible to put down. Feel free to visit the My Articles page and see for yourself.

As a hyper-local journalist for Patch.com, if it was of interest to the community, I tried to get out the word. I covered everything from interviewing the matriarch of the first family of Orioles baseball, Vi Ripken, for piece about her views on being a mom for Mother's Day, to reporting the action at a nine-pound cheeseburger-eating contest the local Ravens Nest held for charity, and a little bit of everything else thrown in in between.

My original column, The Wayback Machine, took an in-depth look at local history. Even some of the old-timers said, "I never knew that. . ."

Plus, I scooped all of the local and regional media when a Revolutionary War veteran's family's cemetery was, "discovered," during the construction of a business park.

On the whimsical and creative side of things, I've mined the depths of amazing and wondrous facts in crafting some truly off-the-wall Useless Information trivia questions, per the required style and tone. These ain't your Grandma's trivia games. And, every single fact is guaranteed to be a fact, no matter how far-fetched it might appear at first.

And, speaking of research, on the serious side, I've written Shop Information items for the Armed Services Vocational Abilities Battery per exacting style guidelines. All information for this test was obtained from expert and authoritative sources, which was subsequently verified.

The only remaining question is, what can I write for you?
